Makinde celebrates Saka Balogun at 90

Oyo State governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has described elder statesman and ace politician, Dr. Saka Balogun, as a great model in terms of patriotism, uprightness and political leadership.
The governor said this on Wednesday in a congratulatory statement made available to journalists on the occasion of Dr. Balogun’s 90th birthday.
According to the governor, Dr. Balogun, who is the Balogun of Ogbomosoland and chairman, Oyo State Elders’ Council, has not only excelled in his career as an academic, but also had been a role model in community leadership and service to Oyo State and Nigeria.
In the statement signed by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, Governor Makinde celebrated the iconic leader, who served as Chief of Staff to former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala, wishing him a happy birthday and more years in good health and agility.
He said: “Today, we celebrate our father, Dr. Saka Balogun, on the occasion of his 90th birthday.
“In Baba Balogun, Ogbomosoland has had decades of community service and leadership; Oyo State has had a straightforward, upright and exemplary public servant ever ready to contribute his quota to moving the state forward and Nigeria has had a patriot, who is never afraid to speak truth to power.
“As he celebrates his 90th birthday still agile and always available to serve humanity, our prayers are that God will grant him more years and good health and may he continue to make impact on humanity.
“Happy birthday, Baba.”
