The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) senatorial candidate for Oyo Central in the 2027 general elections, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has
urged Nigerians to intensify prayers for political leaders and office holders so that they paddle the ship of state to better destination in the face of growing insecurity.
This is just as he also felicitated Muslims across his senatorial district, Oyo State and Nigeria in general on the occasion of New Islamic calendar year, Hijrah 1448AH.
The Islamic New Year Calendar (Hijrah 1448AH) falls on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, as Islamic days begin at sunset, the new year will commence on the evening of Monday, June 15.
To commemorate the occasion and for Muslims to have a good celebration, Oyo State government has declared Tuesday as public holiday across the 33 local government areas of the state.
Ajadi, in a statement made available to journalists on the occasion of the Muslim new year, said he rejoiced with Muslims within his Oyo Central senatorial district, Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.
He commended the state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for approving public holiday in the state for Muslims to enjoy their New Year Day.
“This is to appreciate His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, for declaring the beginning of the Muslims’ new year as public holiday.
“It is a testimony to his religious tolerance and the love for his citizens with no religion discrimination,” Ajadi said in the statement.
Ajadi, a business tycoon and great philanthropist, urged Muslims to pray for the governments at local, state and the federal levels.
He reminded them that all Holy Books called for respect and prayers for those in governance, hence his call on Nigerians, irrespective of their tribes or religions, to intensify prayers for political office holders in restoring the lost glory of the country.
He, in particular, charged Muslims to remember the pupils, students and teachers of Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State who are still in kidnappers’ den.
He urged Muslims to celebrate in modesty, “because of the continued detention of children in the thick forest for over a month.
“Please, I urge our Muslim brothers and sisters to use the occasion of the new year to pray fervently for the safe return of the kidnapped victims in Orire Local Government.
“We should also pray that the Almighty Allah will continue to strengthen our governor, Seyi Makinde, as he strive day and night to get the Orire kidnapped victims released.”
