The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) Senatorial Candidate for Oyo Central Senatorial District, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has hailed the state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for the purchase and arrival of two surveillance aircraft to improve the security situation in the state.
Ajadi said the arrival of the aircraft on Tuesday was a testimony that Governor Makinde was a thorough democrat and a genuine, painstaking leader.
There were reports that Oyo State government, on Tuesday, bolstered its security architecture with the delivery of two surveillance aircraft, as Governor Makinde said the investment would significantly improve intelligence gathering, aerial surveillance and rapid response to security threats across the state.
The aircraft were received by the governor at the newly-upgraded tarmac of the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport, Ibadan, about one year after the state announced plans to procure them as part of efforts to strengthen security operations.
Makinde said the procurement was conceived long before the recent abduction of pupils and teachers at Ahoro Esinele Community Grammar School, Oriire Local Government Area, stressing that the acquisition was part of a strategic security plan and not a reaction to the incident.
In a statement, Ajadi said that with the arrival of the two aircraft, Governor Makinde had shamed his critics and detractors who thought he was lying about the purchase of the aircraft.
Ajadi said those critics could now see that they could not destroy the good name and good work of Governor Makinde.
He said Makinde had, with the successful arrival of the two aircraft, set a standard for other states in Nigeria in tackling insecurity and criminality in the country.
He said the surveillance aircraft would ensure timely nipping of criminality in the bud, besides nabbing of criminals in acts of crime.
He saluted the courage of Governor Makinde, saying with the purchase of the two aircraft, he had shown determination to reduce, “if not eliminate the high rate of insecurity in the country.”
“I commend Governor Seyi Makinde on this feat. The arrival of the surveillance aircraft is a testimony to his determination to wipe out criminality.
“It is a thing of joy that this is coming few weeks after the safe rescue of the Oriire kidnap victims,” the APM candidate said.
