A former deputy governor of Oyo State, Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo, has emerged as the new chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

He was officially announced as the new APC chairman at the state congress of the party held at Liberty Stadium, Ibadan, on Tuesday.

The announcement was made by a former APC National Youth Leader and Secretary of the party’s Ad-hoc Zoning Committee, Afeez Bolaji Repete, under the supervision of the Congress Committee set up by the national leadership of the party in Abuja.

The congress was conducted peacefully. No incident was recorded through the programme.

Recall that stakeholders in the party had earlier agreed on a zoning arrangement ahead of the congress.

According to a statement made available to newsmen by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, who was alao returned, the decision followed consultations among key leaders of the party across the 33 local government areas of the state.

He disclosed that an Had-hoc Zoning Committee was constituted to allocate positions in the State Executive Committee (SEC) members among the local government chapters.

The committee is chaired by Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, with Mr. Bolaji Repete serving as secretary.

Other members are Idris Adeoye, Adesoji Adedeji, Ajiboye Sangogade and Akeem Olatunji.

Adeyemo, who hails from Igboho in Oorelope Local Government Area of the state, served as deputy governor under the late former governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, from 2011 to 2019.
