EKSU matriculates 915 postgraduate students for 2025/2026 academic session

Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, has matriculated a total of 915 newly-admitted students into its various postgraduate programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Declaring the matriculation ceremony open, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joseph Babatola Ayodele, congratulated the students on their admission, describing their selection as a testament to their academic potential and the university’s confidence in their competence and readiness to contribute meaningfully to knowledge advancement through quality research.
According to a statement signed by Bode Rotimi Ibituyi on behalf of the institution’s Deputy Registrar/Head, Directorate of Information and Corporate Affairs, on Thursday, Professor Ayodele described the matriculation ceremony as a significant milestone in the university’s mission of promoting knowledge-driven research and innovation for sustainable national development.
The vice-chancellor urged the students to pursue academic excellence and commence their research work early, prioritise publication in reputable peer-reviewed journals, actively participate in academic seminars and workshops, as well as maintain cordial relationship with their lecturers and other officers of the university.
Professor Ayodele warned the matriculating students against all forms of plagiarism, assuring them of the university’s commitment to maintaining an uninterrupted academic calendar and providing a conducive academic environment for the timely completion of their various programmes.
“The university will always ensure that you complete your studies as scheduled. Therefore, do not see your lecturers and supervisors as your enemies; rather, regard them as partners and mentors in your academic journey,” he said.
Professor Ayodele, who commended the Visitor to the university and governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, for his unwavering support, described him as a worthy alumnus whose administration had strengthened the university’s financial stability through increased subvention.
The matriculation ceremony was attended by principal officers of the university, provosts, deans, directors, members of the academic community and other distinguished guests.
915 students were admitted into the university’s postgraduate programmes, comprising 217 Ph.D candidates, 18 M.Phil./Ph.D candidates, 549 Masters degree students, and 131) Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) students.
