The senator representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, Yunus Abiodun Akintunde, has empowered traders across the 11 local government areas of the district with N25 million, providing a notable boost to small businesses and market activities.

The empowerment programme, implemented over several days, was coordinated by the Iyaloja of Oyo State, Alhaja Saratu Aduke, alongside the State Executive Council of market leaders. His media aide, Hammed Ramadan, in a statement at the weekend, said “throughout the exercise, the senator was represented by his local government coordinators and other designated representatives, who oversaw the smooth and transparent distribution of the funds to beneficiaries.”

Ramadan said “the exercise commenced in Oluyole Local Government Area before moving to Oyo Town, where beneficiaries from Afijio, Atiba, Oyo East, and Oyo West Local Government areas received their empowerment grants.

“Each local government area was allocated N2.2 million, bringing the total allocation for the four councils to N8.8 million.

“Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries at the Oyo town event, Alhaja Atoke commended Senator Akintunde for fulfilling his promise to support traders. She confirmed that the N8.8 million allocated to traders in the four local government areas had been successfully paid directly into the beneficiaries’ bank accounts and appealed to the people of Oyo Central Senatorial District to support the senator for another term in office.

“From Oyo town, the distribution team proceeded to Surulere and Ogo Oluwa Local Government areas. The programme continued the following day in Akinyele and Ona-Ara Local Government areas before concluding in Egbeda and Lagelu Local Government areas, completing the district-wide empowerment exercise.

“Under the initiative, N2.2 million was allocated to each of the 11 local government areas of Afijio, Akinyele, Atiba, Egbeda, Lagelu, Ogo Oluwa, Oluyole, Ona-Ara, Oyo East, Oyo West, and Surulere, ensuring that traders across Oyo Central benefited from the programme.

“In a message conveyed through his representatives led by Hon Femi Akintunde, Senator Akintunde expressed appreciation to the Iyaloja of Oyo State, the State Executive Council of market leaders, local government coordinators, market associations, and all stakeholders whose dedication ensured the successful implementation of the empowerment programme.
