The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja (Arusa1), called on the Federal, states and local governments to prioriotise safety of lives and properties of Nigerians now.

He lamented the growing spate of kidnapping and killings in the country.

The traditional ruler also enjoined the new chiefs installed in Ibadanland on Monday to be good ambassadors of the land anywhere they might be.

The calls were contained in a press release issued and signed immediately after the installation of 14 mogajis and seven baales at the Banquet Hall of Olubadan palace, Oke Aremo, Ibadan.

Speaking through the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba (Barr.) Tajudeen Abimbola Ajibola, Oba Ladoja said the era of traditional affluence had gone, adding that any installed traditional ruler ought to prepare to work assiduously for the unity, progress and development of Ibadanland.

According to the paramount ruler, “one of your traditional duties is to guarantee the security of lives and property of the people in your domains and Ibadanland at large.

“I, once again, appeal to Oyo State government and all local governments in the state to profile the foreigners in Oyo State with the hope of returning those with the questionable character to their states of origin or prosecute them under the laws of the land.

“It is worrisome the alarming rate at which people are being kidnapped, terrorised, maimed and killed nowadays. I charge government at all levels, security operatives, traditional rulers and other security stakeholders to urgently tackle insecurity menace, so that the law-abiding citizens can move freely and go about their lawful duties without fear of molestation, intimidation and being kidnapped.”

Ladoja appealed to the mogajis and baales installed to abstain from aiding and abetting the land grabbers, be personally involved in land grabbing or prepared to forfeit their traditional titles and face the full wrath of law.

Responding on behalf of the new chiefs, one of the newly-installed mogajis, Mogaji (Dr.) Dada Olaniyi Aborisade of Talontan Awonjelogun Compound, Aremo, Ibadan, assured Olubadan and his council of the determination of the new mogajis and baales to serve Ibadanland to the best of their ability.
