APC 2026 Convention: Oyo Central senator Akintunde to lead logistics for election
BY STEPHEN GBADAMOSI

The Senator representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, Yunus Abiodun Akintunde, has been nominated as a member of the Election Committee for the forthcoming 2026 National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
As part of the committee’s structure for the national exercise, Senator Akintunde was appointed as chairman of the Logistics Sub-Committee, making him the only representative from the South-West geopolitical zone serving in that strategic leadership role within the election committee.
The senator, in a statement on Sunday, said the APC national convention was expected to bring together party leaders, delegates, and stakeholders from across the federation and would provide a platform for the conduct of key internal elections and decisions that would shape the future direction of the ruling party.
In his capacity as chairman of the Logistics Sub-Committee, Senator Akintunde has been entrusted with critical operational responsibilities vital to the success of the convention elections. These duties include the printing of official election materials as well as the production of branded materials for election personnel who will oversee and participate in the conduct of the convention.
The assignment places the Oyo Central lawmaker at the centre of preparations for one of the party’s most important internal democratic exercises, reflecting the confidence reposed in his capacity, leadership experience, and commitment to party organisation.
Other key members of the Logistics Sub-Committee include:
Dr. Mansur Liman (co-chairman), Dr. (Chief) Dilion Oyuwa (vice chairman), Onyeka Owella Mbaso (secretary), Alhaji Ali Ibrahim Dutse (assistant secretary), Alhaji Ubale Hashim (member), Prince Nwabueze Igwe (member), Lolade Okuowo (member), Emperor Jarret Tenebe (member), and Monye Lucky Elis (member).
The 2026 APC national convention is anticipated to draw considerable attention within Nigeria’s political scene, as the ruling party seeks to strengthen its internal structures and promote party democracy ahead of upcoming elections.
